This Privacy Notice for STEERER LLC ("we," "us," or "our") describes how and why we collect, store, use, and/or share ("process") your personal information when you use our services (the "Services"), including when you:
- Visit our website at steerer.co (the "Site")
- Download and use our mobile application Steerer (the "App")
- Contact us for support or chat with us through the messaging widget on the Site
Questions or concerns? Reading this Privacy Notice will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services. If you still have questions or concerns, contact us at info@steerer.co.
What personal information do we process? Account details you give us (such as your name and email address), team and match content (rosters, scores, chat), and technical information collected automatically (such as device data and usage data). See Section 1.
Do we sell your personal information? We do not sell personal information in exchange for money.
What about children? Accounts may only be created by people 13 or older. Team rosters may include information about younger players, entered by adult team managers with parental permission. Parents and guardians can ask us to review or delete this information at any time. See Section 2.
How do you exercise your rights? Email us at info@steerer.co, or use the account and deletion controls inside the App. See Section 10.
In short: We collect personal information that you provide to us.
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you register for the Services, use the App, or contact us. Depending on how you use the Services, this may include:
- Account data — information you provide when you create an account, such as your name, email address, and password, or basic profile information (such as your name and email address) received from a third-party sign-in service if you choose to register that way.
- Team and match content — content you or your team create in the App, such as team names, rosters and player details (for example a player's name, jersey number, position, and match statistics), match scores and events, chat messages, and images or other materials you upload. Roster entries may describe people other than the account holder — see Section 2.
- Communications — information you provide when you contact us by email or through the chat widget on the Site, such as your contact details and the contents of your message.
All personal information that you provide to us must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to such personal information.
In short: Some information — such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address and device characteristics — is collected automatically when you use the Services.
We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate the Services. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information) but may include device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, approximate location derived from your IP address, information about how and when you use the Services (such as features used and actions taken), and crash and diagnostic data. We need this information to maintain the security and operation of the Services and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes. Like many businesses, we collect some of this information through cookies and similar technologies — see Section 5.
When you purchase a subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play, we receive transaction and subscription-status information from the relevant store (for example, that a subscription is active, renewed, or cancelled). We do not receive or store your full payment card details — see Section 6.
In short: Accounts are for people 13 and older. Adult team managers may add roster information about younger players with parental permission, and parents can ask us to review or delete it.
Steerer accounts may only be created and used by individuals who are at least 13 years of age. Children under 13 are not permitted to register for or use the Services themselves, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
Because Steerer is used by grassroots and youth sports teams, team managers (such as coaches, club staff, or parents and guardians) may enter roster information about players on their team — including players under 13 — such as a player's name, jersey number, position, and match statistics. This information is entered and managed by adults. Anyone who adds information about a minor to the Services must first have the permission of that minor's parent or legal guardian.
Parents and guardians: if information about your child appears in the Services, you may review it, ask the team manager to correct or remove it, or contact us directly at info@steerer.co to request access to or deletion of your child's information. We will honor verified requests as required by applicable law.
If we learn that we have collected personal information directly from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent as required by the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we will delete that information as quickly as is reasonably practical. If you believe this has happened, please contact us at info@steerer.co.
California residents under 18 who have registered accounts have additional content-removal rights — see Section 11.
In short: We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law.
We process your personal information for a variety of reasons, depending on how you interact with our Services, including to:
- Provide and operate the Services — including creating and managing accounts, team rosters, live match scoring, and team chat;
- Manage subscriptions and entitlements purchased through the app stores;
- Respond to your inquiries and provide support;
- Send administrative and service information, such as changes to our terms and policies;
- Keep the Services safe and secure, including fraud prevention and abuse monitoring;
- Analyze usage and improve the Services, including identifying trends and fixing bugs;
- Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our legal terms; and
- Fulfill any other purpose with your consent.
In short: We share information with service providers who help us run the Services, with your team inside the App, and in the specific situations described below. We do not sell personal information in exchange for money.
- Service providers. We share personal information with third-party vendors who perform services for us, such as cloud hosting and infrastructure providers, analytics providers (Google Analytics on the Site — see Section 5), the customer chat provider on our Site (Zoho SalesIQ), email delivery providers, and the app distribution and billing platforms (Apple App Store and Google Play). These providers are permitted to use your information only to perform services for us.
- Your team and other users. The Services are built around teams: roster information, match data, and chat messages are visible to other members of your team or club, and certain match information may be visible to other participants as part of the App's functionality.
- Business transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
- Legal obligations and safety. We may disclose information where required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, ourselves, or others.
- With your consent. We may share your information for any other purpose disclosed to you with your consent.
In short: With your consent, we use cookies and similar technologies on the Site, including Google Analytics and the Zoho SalesIQ chat widget.
When you first visit the Site, a consent banner asks whether you accept analytics and chat cookies. The technologies below are loaded only if you accept, and you can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the Site footer. If you decline, the Site continues to work without them. Specifically:
- Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to collect aggregated usage statistics about the Site (such as pages visited, approximate location, and device type). You can learn how Google processes data at policies.google.com/privacy and opt out of Google Analytics with the browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Zoho SalesIQ. Our Site includes a chat widget provided by Zoho SalesIQ, which sets cookies and processes the information you submit in a chat (such as your name, contact details, and message contents) along with technical data. Zoho's privacy policy is available at zoho.com/privacy.html.
Most browsers let you remove or reject cookies through their settings. Doing so may affect parts of the Site or the chat widget. For how we respond to "Do Not Track" signals, see Section 11.
In short: Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, not by us, and we never see your full card details.
Paid subscriptions to the Services are offered and billed exclusively through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Your payment information is collected and processed by Apple or Google under their own terms and privacy policies; we do not receive or store your full payment card number. We receive transaction and subscription-status information from the stores so that we can activate and manage your subscription. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple or Google account settings. Subscription terms — including automatic renewal and cancellation — are described in our Terms of Use.
In short: Our servers are located in the United States.
Our Services are hosted in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States by us and by the third parties described in Section 4. The laws of the United States may not be as protective of personal information as those of your country. We will take reasonable measures to protect your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Notice and applicable law.
In short: We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes in this Privacy Notice, unless a longer period is required by law.
We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice — generally, for as long as your account exists or as needed to provide the Services to you and your team — unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements). When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will delete or anonymize it, or, if that is not possible (for example, because it is stored in backup archives), we will securely store it and isolate it from further processing until deletion is possible.
In short: We use reasonable organizational and technical safeguards, but no system is 100% secure.
We have implemented reasonable organizational and technical security measures designed to protect the personal information we process. However, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will never defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information. Transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk; you should only access the Services within a secure environment.
In short: You may review, change, or delete your account and information at any time.
Account information. You can review and change information in your account at any time through the App's settings. You can delete your account using the in-app account deletion option or by emailing us at info@steerer.co. Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases. However, we may retain some information as necessary to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, assist with investigations, enforce our legal terms, and comply with applicable legal requirements.
Withdrawing your consent. If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at info@steerer.co. This will not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.
Access, correction, and deletion requests. Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you. To make a request, email info@steerer.co. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will consider and act upon any request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Do-Not-Track signals. Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature you can activate to signal your preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. No uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized, and we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals. If a standard we must follow is adopted in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this Privacy Notice.
"Shine the Light" (Civil Code Section 1798.83). We do not disclose personal information to third parties for those third parties' own direct marketing purposes.
Content removal for minors (Business and Professions Code Section 22581). If you are a California resident under 18 with a registered account, you may request removal of content or information you posted to the Services by emailing info@steerer.co with a description of the content and where it is located. We will remove or anonymize the content as required by law. Please note that removal may not be complete or comprehensive — for example, where the content has been reposted by another user or where the law permits or requires retention.
In short: Yes, we will update this notice as necessary to stay compliant with relevant laws.
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Notice and will be effective as soon as it is accessible. If we make material changes, we may notify you by prominently posting a notice of such changes or by directly sending you a notification. We encourage you to review this Privacy Notice frequently to be informed of how we are protecting your information.
If you have questions or comments about this notice, or if you would like to review, update, or delete the personal information we hold about you (or about your child — see Section 2), contact us at:
